Q: Dear April Masini,
I love summer and I try to spend every moment possible outside ... But my hair (and feet) pay a huge price and often leave me looking like a dried out frizzle ball, with paws. How can I look great and still have summer fun?
Thanks,
Summer Sizzled My Hair and Makeup

Dear Summer Sizzled My Hair and Makeup:
Want to revive hair that's faded and frizzy from the sun, beach and pool?
Summer is tough on hair -- whether you live in a region of the world that is frizz-land or whether you're just in and out of the pool and the ocean. Here are some ways to fend off the frizzies:
1. Products tend to work as long as you don't abuse them. Find a product that works for you and your hair, but don't use it every day, and alternate between one, two and even three different products, giving your hair a day off now and then from any product.
2. Hair accessories have never been more popular. Hair bands, scarves and thing double bands with or without pony tails all look great and control hair that is out of control due to the weather.
3. Watch your length. In-between hair is the toughest hair to have in summer. Long hair can always be pulled back or put up. Short hair is a lot easier to control than medium hair. Medium or shoulder length and below hair can really be tough in the summer. Consider planning to have long hair in the summer or give yourself a summertime sexy short do.
Want to get relief for feet that are cracked and scaly from wearing sandals all the time?
Feet are not seasonal. Shoes are. Take care of your feet year round.
1. Get and use a pumice stone.
2. Moisturize your feet regularly.
3. Put your feet up. Use a footstool, or lie on the floor and put your feet up the wall to reverse circulation.
4. Make a pedicure a monthly event year round.
5. If you have problems like warts, fungus or ingrown toenails, don't procrastinate. See your podiatrist.
Want to stop your makeup from melting?
Quit your summer foundation and instead opt for a tinted sunscreen. Being out in the sun won't stop you from sweating, and some people sweat more easily than others. Tinted sunscreen will not react to the sun in the same negative way that foundation does when there's just too much melt in the weather. That's why you should switch from winter foundation to summer tinted sunscreen. Look good, prevent melt and screen your skin from the sun's harmful rays for more years without wrinkles and skin cancer.
-- Smooth out peeling skin or get relief for bumpy, rashy skin. The best way to smooth out peeling skin is not to get overexposed to the sun -- and to moisturize often and regularly.
-- Buh-bye shaving bumps and rashes! Summer brings more bare skin, and that means more hair control. Instead of shaving more often, which increases the odds of skin bumps and rashes, consider regular waxing instead of shaving for the summer to eliminate rashes and skin bumps.
