Do People need Personal Trainers? In's and Out's of this Booming Industry

Q: Dear April Masini,
I am a busy working woman and mom of two. Needless to say my figure it not what it used to be. I want to be in shape and regain my old body and also project a healthy image of fitness to my two children, but with such a tight schedule, I simply cannot find the motivation. Friends have recommended I hire a personal trainer. Is a trainer frivilous or a necessary?
Sincerely,
Gym-ophobic
A:
Dear Gym-ophobic,
Why do people need personal trainers? Because like you, they need motivation. Some people just can't get motivated without a personal trainer making sure that they exercise. If you have the resources, a personal trainer can be very beneficial.
Other reasons people need personal trainers:
*Some people don't know their own bodies and their own capacities as well as they should in order to get the most from their exercise. They don't push themselves enough or they push themselves too much -- or they don't know the correct direction and way to push themselves. All of these are reasons to have a personal trainer who knows what he or she is doing and can help you best with exercise and fitness.
*Sometimes people need that extra push to get going. A personal trainer for a month will jump start the exercise careers of many people for the rest of the year.
How qualified should a trainer be?
There is no such thing as too much qualification when it comes to a personal trainer. The more the better.
Is it hard on trainers to be working out 24/7 as a job?
It's hard for anyone to do anything 24/7, and it's not something I would recommend. Everyone, no matter what they are doing, needs to give their brain, their body, and their spirit a rest in order to be most productive. Otherwise, you end up with a hack for a trainer.
