Q: Dear April Masini,

Lots of women complain about their chests being too big, but that's definitely not me! I'm struggling to fill any new sweater or shirt I buy. I feel so self-conscious about my chest. Do you have any tips on a sexy bra that will fill me out?

Sincerely,

Small On Top

A:

Dear Small On Top,

All a gal has to do is check out the fashion pages of any celeb magazine or watch the runway of any awards show and she'll see cleavage -- the new black! Everybody's got it. Everybody can get it -- one way or another. And guys want it!

Push-up bras are now staples in every lingerie drawer in America. And Victoria's Secret does NOT have a corner on the market — every upscale lingerie maker from La Perla to Cosabella is rushing to sell their push-up bras to consumers who want a little more than what they've got naturally. Even silicone has found it's way out of plastic surgery offices and into department stores! That's right -- you can get your silicone implanted in your flesh or in your bra these days. Silicone bras are padded with silicone for a little extra-natural looking push

More Beginner Bras than Ever Before:

The other reason that lingerie is booming is that children are developing secondary sexual characteristics earlier than ever in history. This means that 10-11- and 12-year-olds are bra shopping with their mothers — and moms usually hit a department store for more conservative choices in bras for beginners. In addition, the moms who are turned off by the pedophilia-chic of Abercrombie and Fitch-type lingerie for teens, will direct their girls to department stores for purchases. Upscale lingerie makers are not stupid — teens are consumers and they love high end items, so the more that are available, the more that get sold by this new market segment.

Velvet for Winter:

Bras don't have to be institutional white, black and beige. They can be fashionable, too. Velvet and satin are wonderful Winter lingerie fabrics that can be worn under clothes, without clothes, or as clothes. You can wear velvet or satin bras peeking through or even prominently displayed under clothes. Quilted velvet and quilted satin bodice bras are wonderful must haves for the Winter season in rich chocolate colors, festive reds, gorgeous jewel tones and basic black. These fabrics look great and are seasonal.

Suddenly Single:

Divorced women who are out in the dating world for the first time in a while will want to upgrade and re-do their lingerie wardrobes to give their look and the way they feel a new lift. Suddenly single women should take a suddenly single lingerie shopping spree and look for beautiful, upscale lingerie for a new and improved love life. And that way they can upgrade their men too! First the lingerie, then the men!

Plastic Surgery:

Many women undergo breast augmentation and reduction — more than ever and at all ages. With these changing breast sizes — not to mention liposuction to change panty sizes, too — lingerie departments in major department stores are great places for women to see their options for their new bodies. And once you have new underwear, maybe you'll want to try some new ways of having fun with your man!
