The Super Bowl has become family entertainment where it was once he-man/cave-man entertainment. This means that there are more women and children watching the Super Bowl, more Super Bowl parties, and more people watching the Super Bowl, period. If you were an entertainer, wouldn’t you want this audience for your own?

There are two kinds of artists — those who create for the sheer process and those who create for the audience. To be fair, man of the first kind have agents who help them find audiences and make money. But the second kind of artist — those who love to entertain and perform in front of an audience are always looking for a bigger, better audience. The Super Bowl is the answer to their prayers.

The relationship between the NFL, the network and the artists is one of audience and money. The bigger the audience, the bigger the benefit for all three. The bigger the audience, the more money made by all three.

The only drawback to this kind of relationship is that the acts have to be clean and family oriented. Nipple-gate is one of the problems that this three pronged relationship looks out for.
