Marriage / Family: Siblings Who Marry Siblings From A Different Family

Siblings from one family who marry siblings from a different family do so for a variety of reasons:
* Similar taste. It makes sense that someone raised in a family will like the same people that a sibling likes.
* Bond with siblings. If one siblings looks up to another sibling, or bonds with another sibling, or even competes with a sibling (which is another form of bonding), they will want to do the same thing that sibling does. Even if it means marrying in the same family.
* Family approval. If the parents and the rest of the family like a sibling’s spousal choice, they may push or “strongly support” another of their children to marry in the same family. This support and/or pressure can happen to siblings from both families at the same time.
* Limited choices. It’s hard to find Mr. or Ms. Right, and if your sibling finds someone in a particular place — whether it’s a class, a church, an internet dating service or a bar — it makes sense that other siblings from the same family will look in the same place.
