Fashion: Your Wardrobe - Why Color Counts

Clothes are one of a vixen’s great tools. She uses them to make herself more seductive and enticing. She creates an image that will startle and attract men by using clothes that enhance her own specific loveliness.

Every woman needs a closet full of the right clothes  – whether you’re committed to seducing a man with a closet full of sensual, sexy lingerie and evening wear, or winning an election with clothes that sell your political sensibility (and subliminal sexuality) or you want to get out of a speeding ticket (come on Ladies, you know cops are vulnerable) with a pretty, vulnerable look.

Any man and woman who really wants something and gets it, knows how important clothes are to the process.

Classics and neutrals vs. colors in your closet

Yes, I believe in investing in classic wardrobe, but not a wardrobe devoid of color! Look, there is a reason Paris and Florence, the two ruling cities of fashion, have been showing collections that are alive with color for years . . . sun yellow, bright blues, vivid orange, blazing pinks. Ladies, if you are one of those people who is sticking to a few “safe colors” in which you feel sure no one can possibly accuse you of being garish, or of seeking too much attention — listen up!

How and why to use color

a) All sorts of tests have proved that men, (not unlike bulls) are responsive to color. Green is reputedly soothing, violet is cooling, blue is thoughtful, pink is provocative; red is stimulating, yellow is healing.

b) Colors can accent and mold your figure when used skillfully, by highlighting certain areas, and low lighting others.

c) Color creates illusion. A girl in an icy-blue and white dress, provided the rest of her is well kept, immediately creates an impression that is pleasing to the eye. A spring-green is uplifting, and seems fresh and happy. White is traditionally, but also visually, pristine, pure and clean. Though against a deep tan, if the dress includes a daring neckline, it becomes undeniably sexy. Black is sophisticated and chic-though it can also seem somber and depressing to some people. Pink is a young color-maybe a bit too sweet on older women. The bottom line is color is an important part of the image you create.

d) Color blindness affects men more than it does women. This means that he may see navy, black, hunter-green and dark gray as one in the same. Yellow, red or lavender do not get confused in colorblind men the way darker neutrals or darker shades with blue or green in them, do. So get him to notice you by wearing a color he can actually see!

Color in clothing works best when it’s working with the color in your skin and not against it. Fashion and color experts say that almost all skins fall into one of three skin- color groups:

1) cool - have blue undertones;

2) warm - have yellow undertones; and

3) neutral - have pink to beige undertones.

– If your skin falls into the cool range, the best colors for you will be those that have some hint of blue in them – like violets, blue-reds, blue-greens, and whites.

– Warm skins should benefit most from colors near those reds and greens that have yellowish sunny shades to them.

– The neutral skins are free to wear either group for the best look. Hold different colors up to your face in good, natural light, and see which colors are most flattering, then figure out which skin tone you are, cool, warm or neutral.

So, remember, when thinking about color, the following rules apply:

1. Simplicity to start. The over-all look of any outfit should be dominated by one color. This is true no matter how many touches of different colors you may add.

2. Catch his eye with color. Touches of white on a dark outfit give the effect of a neon light on a dark street. Shiny, black beading or any light-reflecting fabrics beckon attention.

3. Avoid visual clutter that takes his attention away from you.

4. Buy clothes that are modern and utilitarian to get the most use.

I think the new fabrics with their permanent pleats, easy travel-ability, non-ironing, quick wash, quick-dry talents have changed many of the old rules about basic clothing, and have enormously
enlarged the scope and possibility of what we can wear. For instance, everyone’s heard of the new wonder material “Lycra”; the best part about it is that it’s light, and it withstands
daily rough use.
