Preteen Dating
By all accounts, the preteen of today is the teenager of yesteryear. Girls are already hyper sexualized, wrapped up in strongly-allied cliques, and prone to viciousness. And when it comes to friendships, they can be all-consuming, again pointing to a more “mature” youngster (though I use that word lightly). The family takes a back-seat to friends, which is a process that used to occur as a normal development during the teenage years, when identity was forming, and rebellion against the parents was par for the course. But now, it all happens much sooner…including falling in with the “wrong crowd”. And today, that doesn’t mean that those kids are egging their teacher’s home. It means drinking, drugs, and yes…even sex.
