4 Tips For Winter Exercising
1. Bundle up in layers. If you exercise outdoors wear layers that you can shed or put on in order to be comfortable.
2. Temper your workout. You will not be able to warm up as quickly when the weather is cold. Allow for less intense workouts if you can’t get warmed up the same way you would in warm weather.
3. Seasonalize your workout. If you usually exercise outdoors in warm weather, change your routine in winter to include indoor exercise like indoor swimming, indoor exercise classes, a stair master instead of hiking, etc.
4. Don’t forget to hydrate and moisturize. Winter air and dry air from heaters inside will change your skin’s expression of moisture. Use sunscreen, moisturizers and drink lots of water even if it’s cold and cloudy outside.
