It’s that time of year, selecting a calendar for 2007, either as a gift or a self-purchase. But with so many options — from puppy wall calendars to cell phone calendars — how do you know when to go for the traditional verses the electronic version?

There’s no question about it — electronic calendars and electronic calendar devices are replacing paper calendars. However, the wall calendar is not dead! But, the market has changed.

Who is in the wall calendar target market?

Senior citizens still love wall calendars and there are more seniors than ever, as people live longer thanks to technology and medicine, so there are going to be more wall calendars geared towards seniors.

– Seniors are not always as tech savvy as younger people.

– Seniors with dementia and related diseases like Alzheimer’s won’t remember how to work their electronic devices, so a wall calendar is a great bet for helping them stay oriented.

The other segment of the population that still loves wall calendars are children who are learning the months, weeks, days of the week and order of the seasons. Classrooms and bedrooms for young children ages 10 and under will all be in need of wall calendars.
