Celebrated Symbolism - The Confederate Flag

A high school in eastern Kentucky with an all-white student body refuses to change its school flag (the Confederate flag) and its mascot (a rebel soldier)… Are schools moving away from this type of symbolism, or embracing it?

Anyone embracing the Confederate Flag today should be a museum curator or owner. This kind of celebrated symbolism in a school sends the wrong message to students and the community. It is, basically, anti-American, because it does not accept the nation’s stance on Confederacy. America is a united nation of states, and most of the country tolerates and accepts reality and diversity. It is unfortunate that the school administration and the school district as well as the city of this school tolerates and allows, supports and promotes this small-town thinking that brings us all a step backward when it comes to kindness and a United States of America.
