Take it from a guy...it sounds like this guy wants to have his cake, and eat it, too.

But what if this guy really is her soulmate? What if he realizes that he is still in love with her, misses her, whatever. What if he really believes that she is the one for him, and what if she feels the same way?

Well, then for starters he should have broken up with his current girlfriend. Sounds like he's trying to keep her interested while he has his own separate life. He thinks she's single so it's like he's stringing her along, trying to make her wait around for him even though he is with someone. If he was serious, he'd break up with his other girl FIRST and THEN tell her all of this.
