Advice For Celebrating Easter Without Baby Chicks and Bunnies

Bad Baby Bunnies Gift

Advice Seeker: Dear April,

Easter is coming and I want to do something extra special for my kids this year. I think it would be so cute if they woke up on Easter morning and had their own little Easter bunny waiting for them. My husband also suggested that a baby chick would be a good idea since they represent Easter too. Can you think of any other cute Easter gifts?

Sincerely,

Baby Bunnies

April Masini's advice:

Dear Baby Bunnies,

Stop! In the name of love....or PETA will break your car.

Don't teach children that pets are expendable. Pets are living beings and need to be cared for -- not just oohed and ahhhed over, and then dumped wherever.

If you want to celebrate Easter with baby chicks and bunnies:

* Stuffed animals and chocolate chicks and bunnies work. If it feels like same old, same old, buy REALLY BIG stuffed animal and chocolate chicks and bunnies. You know you can.

* Go to a petting zoo or the real zoo to celebrate Easter.

* If you are ready for a pet for your child -- and that means taking care of the pet in every way, and keeping it until death do you and your pet part, then consider a more normal pet with an Easter spin. What's so great about an Easter goldfish? Everything! Name your new kitty Bunny. Or get a puppy with an Easter chick collar. Believe me -- your kids won't miss the real chicks and bunnies for one second.
