Advice Seeker: Dear April Masini,
One of the perks and downfalls for my job is that I have to travel often. Today's airports can be a total nightmare, but the prospect of meeting someone cute on a flight always cheers me up. Any tips or advice on meeting people aboard an airplane?
Sincerely,
Traveling Tracy
Dear Traveling Tracey,
Meeting someone on a flight is the silver lining to the hellish wait in the airport line. Here are some tips to meet that cute guy in seat 12B and some advice on how to arrive at your destination without being wiped out.
Long Flight Survival Techniques:
1. If you're single, ask the flight attendant checking in flyers to seat you next to someone attractive and single.
2. If you're single and if you can afford it, upgrade to first class or business class. Besides having a roomier flight with more freebies, you have a much better chance of meeting someone successful in first class. If you can't afford it, upgrade with your frequent flyer miles.3. Drink water. Skip alcohol. You'll be dehydrated from the flight, naturally. Sip water the entire flight.
4. Skip salty food. If you're not flying first class or business class, request a salt-free meal a week in advance or bring your own salt free food. You'll swell up naturally on the flight. Don't help the swelling with more salt!
5. Stretch. Walk. Change positions.
6. Don't wear a pencil skirt or anything constricting and uncomfortable. Temper comfort with looking good. You never know who you'll meet!
