Reconciliation, Reuniting -- Getting Back With An Ex

Relationship Advice Expert April Masini
Advice Seeker: Dear April Masini,
I was married to this guy for over 5 years. I left and divorced him over 25 years ago. I have recently met him again and he would like to get back with me. I like this guy and he treated me well when I was with him. I have been divorced for 2 years with the guy I married after him. Is it a good thing to get back with an ex or no.
Signed,
Is Reuniting A Good Thing?
April Masini's advice: Absence. It can make the heart grow fonder, or it can clarify just how crazy you were to fall in love with your ex-boyfriend or girlfriend the first time around. If you find yourself in the former category, and you’re actually considering going back to him or her, take some time to get honest with yourself first, and make sure you’re doing it for the “right” reasons. What are the right reasons? Answer these 4 key questions, and you’ll figure it out:
1. Am I truly missing my ex, or just missing having someone—anyone?
2. What’s changed since we were together the first time?
3. How will I feel if I go back and it ends up not working out again?
4. How will I feel if I don’t try and give it a second shot?
No one can tell you whether your relationship is worth giving a second shot but you. Just make sure you let your heart and your head be the guide, and that you’re up front with yourself, first and foremost, before giving it another go. You know what they say…Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!
