Advice Seeker: Dear April,
There are so many reasons to look cute during the summer -- great tans, great clothes, out at bars and barbecues with friends -- but no matter how I dress, I end up with a shiny face and frizzy hair. Do you have any advice or tips on looking great, even in the summer heat?
Sincerely,
Melting
Dear Melting,
If you're wilting from the heat, you may feel hot, but you're not going to look hot. Here are some ways to look hot and keep your cool:
1. Ice it. If you can hold it in your hand, and it's smaller than a bread box, put it in the refrigerator before you put it on. This goes for underwear, sock, clothes and even perfume or cologne. You'll feel cooler and look hotter.
2. Take a cool shower -- not a hot one. This will bring your body temperature down, and keep you from sweating.3. Wash your hands in icy cold water before you go out or at the restaurant or in the restroom of the movies or wherever you are. This helps to lower your body temperature and keep you from sweating.
4. Drink icy cold drinks to cool you down from the inside out.
5. Lighten up on the makeup. Use a light foundation instead of a nighttime Winter foundation. This will eliminate the layers of makeup on your face which actually can make you warm. Consider a tinted moisturizer instead of a foundation.
