Dear Make Me Over For The Holidays,

It can be a difficult feat to look holiday-ready without looking tacky. But I have some fabulous ideas for how you can update your style for the holidays, without going overboard.

Update your holiday style:

* Gold. You're going to be seeing a lot of gold in clothing AND in makeup. Layer your lipstick by applying your regular color and then applying a gold lipstick or lip gloss on top of your color for a holiday night out special shine.

* Dust your cheeks LIGHTLY with a little gold powder. You can even dust your breastbone and cleavage, but don't over do it. You want to look festive, not like you're a head turner for the wrong reason.

*A velvet piece of clothing is always great for the holidays. You can go for traditional black, but if you want to have a little fun, go for a jewel tone.

* Satin is also a great way to update your holiday style. A satin blouse in a great color like charcoal grey, sapphire blue, or eggplant will make you feel and look like you are ready for a holiday party.
