Advice Seeker: Dear April,
I was unemployed for a while, and during that time I learned the importance of networking, which helped me get the job I have now. I want to continue networking while I'm in this position, so that the people at the company know me well, but I am not sure of the best ways to do that. I like to keep my personal and professional life separate, so how do I network without overstepping that rule?
Sincerely,
Newly Employed
Dear Newly Employed,
Play a Sport
Extreme sports are an excellent way to separate the men from the boys -- and when it comes to business, nobody wants to work with the boys. They want to work with the men. And in this case, some of those "men" may be women! Women who excel at extreme sports find themselves in an elite group of aggressive, successful people who want to do business the way they heli-ski -- on the edge.
